Co.Lab Vs. Step Up! Feat. Dave Q (Dubwar NYC)

The title says it all. Dave Q, one of the founders and resident DJ's at Dubwar NYC, one of the largest Dubstep parties in the USA, was in town recently and we were fortunate enough to manage to throw together a party for him to play at. Alongside him we had talents of Hyphen & SFR, Funafuji, Ish and myself, Binary. This was a night of epic proportions as am I'm sure those who were and weren't there by now know. Amazing atmosphere and incredible music, what more could you ask for? Oh, we also had Max on the photo's and Karabo doing a live illustration, just to add something fresh to the mix. A big, big thank you goes out to all the DJ's who played and everyone that came through. Hopefully we'll be able to do more of these nights.

Subday Session of the 18th of October

This Subday was a super subdued affair, which came as a direct result of the mayhem that was Friday night, Big, Big ups to everyone that came through for Eitan's birthday party. It was definitely one to be remembered.

So Hyphen, a legend in the Cape Town music scene, dropped in and laid down a sweet-ass Dubstep mix which shows what his reputation is built on.

Session 8

This Subday was a nice, mellow affair, with some new faces and a few we hadn't seen for a while. As we are still waiting on new CDJ's, there weren't many new people getting involved, but next week we'll have Audiophile021 dropping a set and maybe one or two others. We are also aware that some people have been having trouble with the download links so we are migrating to the SoundCloud system.

This also means that if you have a tune that you'd like us to hear you can send it to our SoundCloud Drop Box (Located on the right under the Hit Counter) and if we like it we'll post it up on the blog.

This last Sunday Co.Lab Subdays was hosted on the Pan African Space Station, a month long Internet & satellite radio station. Hopefully the session will be posted on their podacast section soon, as it was a special one. The bteam played a nice down-tempo set and JacobSnake did some freestyling and singing and I played a super mellow set and had some people signing and freestyling over it. After which Hednod and JacobSnake teamed up for a more mellow version of what they've been doing on Subdays. But since we dont have a session to post for you I've decided to post up some of the tunes I've been making in the lab, some old, some new, comments and feedback always appreciated. Enjoy

Greatings and salutations beat heads, here we have the recordings from our latest jam session, which I must say was hella fun. The cutmasta Hednod joined us for another session of crazy scratching and we were lucky enough to have Trinity pull thru with her trumpet, adding yet another layer to the sonic awesomeness. Hey all, so as promised here are the recordings of our jams sessions. These recordings are from session two since we had some technicals on the first set and have feedback running through the whole thing, but we may just post it up anyway, depending on how annoying the noise is.
